There are numerous cultures in the Difinia setting. A few of them dominate most of the civilized world.
The Dhoni people claim they were descended of the original human kings who ruled the world ages ago. Aridhon is their main kingdom, the heart of the Dhoni Empire which dominates the central peninsula. They are reclaiming the land that belongs to them (they say), conquering one neighboring kingdom after another. They rename their conquered kingdoms in their own language: Aurius, Sentium, Gantus, and Bisannia were not Dhoni people before they were conquered, but now they are ruled by Dhoni governors and many Aridhonians immigrated into the outer territories over the last century.
Scattered around Difinia are the remnants of the older Cyresian Empire: Haxiane, Enmos, Umuzos, Geres, Xathos, and the islands of Noros and Ulyos. The Cyresians are of old elven stock and they’ve interbred with humans so long (thousands of years, actually) that their fey features are barely noticeable. They have no empire these days. Their remaining kingdoms are independent, though they might give one another preferential treatment, sharing much in the way of language and custom. Thunis is a great Cyresian power today, and it basically controls Euvis on its northern border and Turic on its southern border, on the western peninsual. The people of Vesnor in the swamps of the southern-middle peninsula are mostly of Cyresian stock, though the Marsh Witches who run the state are not.
Udra, Eddir, and Olnir are what remain of the human kingdom of Ethir, which crumbled long ago. The Ethirs are human, but they were strongly influenced by contact with dwarves who were much more advanced than they were back then. Their language includes a lot of borrowed terms from dwarven language, and Ethirs and dwarves share many of the same passions.
Along similar lines, elves influenced the humans in Chevna and Spezna, together called Speznic. Contact with the powerful fey in Fianha solidified a druidic culture there.
Methivan and Kerthivan are old Tivanthian peoples, who used to control most of the eastern peninsula. Those people still live in conquered Bisannia and Evinor under the Dhoni Empire’s leash.
On the eastern edge of the sea is the Empire of Wujjai. The people call themselves Wujjai, too. Keljai and Lezan are subject kingdoms, but the Lezan are a different stock of people.
Fianha, the Feyland, observes the old ways of the Fey, unlike the Cyresian elves who live in the kinds of cities humans build. The Fey are a bit alien and hard for others to understand.
The old dwarven (Darvaen) cultures are all but gone. Remnants are scattered around the continent. Darvaen in the north is the strongest cultural center. Tesik and Seeran are Darvaen cultures, too, with their own quirks. The cold makes the northern Darvaenians very different.
Onamai, Sakai, and Zidisa all descend from the Maita people, an offshoot of Cyresians many thousands of years back. Sakai and Zidisa cultures are very similar, but Onamai people have changed a lot over the past few hundred years as desert nomads. Their culture is unique in Difinia.
